De samenleving, ook in Venlo, herbergt steeds meer culturele diversiteit. Met het project Ode to Diversity wil Stichting Ode to Women aandacht vragen voor de waarde van culturele diversiteit en het belang koesteren van een harmonieuze samenleving in Venlo, waarin de mensen zijn verbonden in begrip en respect voor elkaar en voor elkaars cultuur.
De Verenigde Naties hebben 21 mei als Werelddag voor Culturele Diversiteit, Dialoog en Ontwikkeling uitgeroepen. Stichting Ode to Women besteedt daar in Venlo aandacht aan met een multimedia project Ode to Diversity.
In het centrum van Venlo is een grote groepsfoto gepresenteerd met vrouwen met een verschillende culturele achtergrond, conform de hierboven aangeduide omschrijving van culturen. Iedere vrouw is representant van een culturele groep. In de foto is een QR code verwerkt, die naar deze pagina met talkshows ‘Werelddag voor Culturele Diversiteit, Dialoog en Ontwikkeling’ verwijst.

This leads to an enrichment of society if we succeed in allowing the different cultures to live together and respect each other. In this case, cultures are understood to mean religion, origin, social class and sexual orientation. With the Ode to Diversity project, the Ode to Women Foundation wants to draw attention to the value of cultural diversity and cherish the importance of a harmonious society in Venlo, in which people are connected in understanding and respect for each other and for each other’s culture.
